About the Role
The Junior Marketing Manager leads the day-to-day marketing and underwriting-support function for a growing insurance agency, with primary emphasis on its commercial trucking and transportation book. The role builds on core marketing workflows (submission review, rater quoting, CRM management, and AMS360 activity) but carries full ownership of process quality, carrier relationships, and reporting. You will also serve as the go-to resource and trainer for Marketing Assistants, Producers, and Service Team Members.
You are expected to identify inefficiencies, recommend fixes, and represent the marketing function in conversations with underwriters, carriers, and agency leadership.
Core Responsibilities
- Own the submission quality-control process by setting the standard for a clean submission (updated loss runs, MVRs for all drivers, current vehicle/driver lists) and auditing team submissions for accuracy and quality
- Direct the rater-quoting workflow across Geico, Progressive, Berkshire, Coverwhale, Star Mutual RRG, and others; own the accuracy of outputs and flag when a submission doesn’t fit current carrier appetite
- Set and enforce InsuredMine standards for the team, including task creation for agents on underwriting follow-ups, note tagging on quotes/indications, and underwriting notes entry, so records are consistent across every user
- Own weekly production reporting: compile agent submission counts, call activity, and premium sold, identify trends, flag agents who need coaching, and present findings to leadership each Monday
- Own and manage the weekly producer scorecard process and ensure metrics are met consistently
- Maintain the suspense process for policy/binder/invoice post-bind activity in AMS360 and confirm the wider team follows it correctly
- Serve as the team’s point person on Premium Finance contracts, handling escalations, answering questions, and training new hires
- Manage the renewal submission pipeline end-to-end: coordinate with account management on outstanding renewals and own the underwriter relationship for requesting supplemental applications and additional information
- Maintain deal-card lifecycle accuracy in InsuredMine (bound vs. lost, tied to expiration date and premium bound) and use that data to identify pipeline gaps
- Oversee AMS360 activity-logging standards for bind requests, policies, and binders, ensuring documentation is audit-ready and consistent with E&O best practices
- Train producers and the broader team on current carrier requirements and submission-quality standards, so submissions come in clean the first time
Leadership & Process Ownership
- Train, mentor, and onboard Marketing Assistants, serving as their first point of escalation for workflow questions
- Act as the go-to resource for producers on carrier-specific requirements and submission expectations, reducing rework and follow-up requests from underwriters
- Identify recurring bottlenecks or errors in the marketing/underwriting-support workflow and bring recommended fixes to leadership
- Contribute to and help maintain marketing-related SOPs, ensuring documentation reflects current carrier and system requirements
- Support hiring and interviewing for future Marketing Assistant roles as the team grows
Carrier & Market Strategy
- Monitor carrier appetite changes, rate trends, and program updates across the core trucking/transportation markets
- Build and maintain working relationships with underwriters and carrier marketing representatives; represent the agency in carrier check-ins and marketing meetings
- Flag emerging market opportunities or appetite gaps to leadership and help evaluate potential new carrier partnerships
Qualifications
- 2-4+ years of experience in insurance marketing, CSR, or underwriting support, ideally within commercial trucking/transportation lines
- Working knowledge of AMS360, InsuredMine, and carrier rating platforms (or comparable AMS/CRM and rating tools)
- Strong attention to detail and comfort owning a process end-to-end rather than just executing tasks
- Demonstrated ability to train or mentor others, or clear readiness to grow into that responsibility
- Clear, direct communication style, comfortable corresponding with underwriters and carrier reps as well as internal team members
